Natural Glow Make-up look

So it’s Winter and along with a great skincare routine and drinking lots of water, we all still want that youthful, natural glow: rosy cheeks and flawless looking skin. When it comes to my morning make-up routine, I will always put on a full face of make-up every morning at 5:30am (yup) because it makes me look and feel my best and like i’m ready for the day. That said, we’re not talking crazy colours and false lashes because at that time in the morning I DO NOT have the patience to fiddle around with perfectly lining up falsies and hoping they stick on properly (they never do and always end up hanging off… not a good look).

Start off with a good base: currently I use Rimmel #InstaFlawless primer, it’s lightweight and you don’t need much all over to keep your make-up from fading after an hour. I did try the NYX photo ready primer but the silicone texture was unpleasant and it didn’t keep my make-up in place for more than a few hours.

Next I go in with my beauty blender and a good coverage foundation. When I was in The UK I always used to love using No7 skincare and cosmetics from Boots and then when I moved to Canada I couldn’t get the make-up anymore. Well, happily, they sell it in Ulta Beauty down in The States so I’m stocked up on my favourite foundation again. What I love about the Life & Luminate foundation from No7 is that it’s fuller coverage but never looks cakey or heavy on my sin it also has their fantastic serum in it and SPF 15 (not the highest but better than most foundations I’ve used that have no SPF)

Once my foundation is on, I go in with concealer, I’m currently using Maybelline’s dark circle eraser concealer because my under-eye circles and bags are seriously bad! Then to set it and also give my super pale skin some life, I use the Sweetie-Pie bronzer by Too Faced. As someone who’s skin is incredibly fair, i’ve never had much luck finding bronzers as they are always too much but this one is perfect, and doesn’t looks super shimmery either – it’s great for contouring and also for all-over bronzing.

After the base is done, I use my new favourite blusher that i got for Christmas, The Fenty Beauty Freestyle Highlighter, which gives a pretty rosy glow without being too pink, I use Girl Next Door/ Chic Phreak. and this also works double duty as a great highlighter too. Having said that, I do go in with a little more liquid highlighter from L’Oreal’s new Lumi Glow Amour.

Recently, I’ve been enjoying wearing eyeshadow again, I stopped for a while as I worried that I’d be looking too made-up for work but I have such gorgeous palettes that never using them was a waste and it’s so easy to do a subtle look, especially with a gorgeous warm palette like the Sweet Peach palette from Too Faced: my go-to shades are – “Peach butter” all over, then “peach tea” on the outer half of my eyelid and “just ripe” blended in to the crease and very outer corner of my eyelid. Once all this is done, it’s time for my usual L’Oreal eyelash primer and then Rimmel’s Wonderfully Real – I’ll warn that this is a mascara that takes some getting use to – it’s heavy and goopy and you have to be light handed when using it so it doesn’t make your eyelashes one big mascara goop, which let’s face it, chandler was right on Friends: no-one wants a “gross mascara goop thing in the corner of their eye!” be light handed and build it up, it does make your lashes look super long and full when used right.

I hope you found this post useful and most of this is created from The Drugstore or Boots UK.

Have a Fantastic Wednesday everyone!
xoxo Ellie
